Daily Dropbear Blog Weird Monthly Prizes Award of Excellence

Welcome to the first-ever ‘Daily Dropbear Blog Weird Monthly Prizes Award of Excellence’ award. When I first started the 100 Days Project, I set out to create and write for 100 days, hence the clever name. It is a project designed to kick start my brain back into writing because I’ve been struggling (procrastinating) with getting several books written. I’d sit down at the keyboard to write, and I wouldn’t know where to start, but if and when I did get some words down, they were dull and dry and didn’t reflect my 'unique' personality. Yes, these are important business books, but that doesn’t mean they should put you to sleep or be overly serious.

And when I say ‘designed’ a project, I mean I just dove in.

When I go to the ocean, I am not the ‘carefully wade in with my back turned against the crashing waves, jump and giggle’ kinda guy. I’m the ‘run full-tilt as fast as I can until I trip on a Dungeness Crab, faceplant into an oncoming wave and come up with a salmon’ kinda guy.

So, I started writing, and people started reading, and somehow more and more people started subscribing. Then they started sending me notes and comments, and several alert readers helped me with my grammatical challenges—which I genuinely appreciate. It was then I decided I needed to take everyone’s name who has subscribed to the ‘Daily Dropbear Blog,’ put them in a hat and then draw one name each month to win a weird prize. What is that weird prize, you ask? You’ll have to wait and see. I don't want to spoil the surprise for this month's winner.

What happened to the Dungeness Crab?

The crab is fine; his name is Gary, by the way. When I came back to shore, we hung out, shared some salmon and built a sandcastle together, complete with moat, driftwood drawbridge, and a kelp standard flying high atop the parapets.
