Our commitment to your privacy
michaeldargie.com is operated by MD&A Inc. (“Make More Creative”). We take your privacy seriously and aim to be clear about what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. This policy describes our practices in plain language.
Information you give us
We collect the information you provide directly, which may include:
- Newsletter subscribers.When you sign up for the letter, we collect your email address and, where you choose to provide them, your first and last name. These fields are stored by our email service provider (Mailchimp) and used only to send you the dispatches you’ve subscribed to.
- Direct enquiries. When you email us, we keep the contents of your message so we can reply and follow up.
- Orders (future). If we reintroduce direct book or course sales, we will collect the information necessary to process your purchase (name, shipping address, payment information) via our payment processor.
Information collected automatically
We use Plausible Analytics to understand which pages and articles are being read. Plausible is a privacy-first analytics tool that is cookie-less and does not collect, store, or share personal information about visitors. No data is shared with third-party advertisers.
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may log basic request metadata such as IP address, user agent, and referrer for security, abuse-prevention, and uptime purposes. This data is retained briefly and is not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
How we use your information
- To send you the newsletter you subscribed to.
- To respond to your enquiries.
- To operate, secure, and improve the website.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us operate the site or deliver the newsletter (e.g. Mailchimp, Vercel, Plausible). These providers have access to the minimum information required to perform their function.
- When required by law, court order, or lawful request.
- With your explicit consent.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe.Every newsletter dispatch includes an unsubscribe link. One click and you’re removed.
- Data access or deletion. Email inquiries@MichaelDargie.com to request a copy of the information we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it.
Data security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information we collect. No system is ever perfectly secure, so we also keep the amount of personal information we hold as small as we reasonably can.
International transfers
The services we use (Mailchimp, Vercel, Plausible) may process your information outside of Canada. By using this site you consent to this transfer.
Children’s privacy
This website is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Substantive changes will be announced in the newsletter.
