Cookie Policy

Last updated · 24 April 2026

The short version

michaeldargie.com tries to use as few cookies as possible. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not use cookie-based analytics, and we do not share data with third-party advertisers.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember things like whether you’re signed in or what preferences you’ve set. Some cookies last only for the duration of a visit (“session cookies”); others persist between visits (“persistent cookies”).

What we use

Essential / functional

If we add features that require you to sign in (e.g. account areas or purchases), a small number of essential cookies will be set by our authentication provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in during the session. These cookies cannot be turned off and are necessary for the features to work.

Analytics — cookie-less

We use Plausible Analytics to understand which articles are being read and roughly where readers come from. Plausible is explicitly cookie-less: it does not store any identifier on your device, and the aggregate data it collects cannot be used to identify you personally. No advertising networks or data brokers receive data from our analytics.

Third-party content

Occasionally a page may embed third-party content such as a video or a social-media post. If it does, that third party may set its own cookies when the embed loads. We don’t control these cookies; please refer to the relevant third party’s own policy for details.

What we don’t use

  • Advertising cookies. We don’t run ads on the site and don’t participate in behavioural advertising networks.
  • Cross-site tracking. We don’t attempt to track you across other websites.
  • Marketing/retargeting pixels. No Facebook, Google, or similar retargeting tags are installed.

Managing cookies

Most web browsers let you control cookies from the settings: you can delete existing cookies, block cookies from specific sites, or block all cookies. Instructions for common browsers:

If you block essential cookies, some features (such as signing into a future account area) may not work.

Changes to this policy

We’ll revise this page when our cookie usage changes. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
