Don't Forget To Eat

This is a quick one today as I’ve been busy writing a much longer post about our trip to Boracay a few years ago—it's a tale of adventure, intrigue, blood, being lost at sea, sunburns, and the Muerte Gang. These things take time, and the more I write the more I realize it's more of a series than it is a single long article.

I have a notebook. A real analogue book that I write in with an actual pen. I also have a large whiteboard with many colours of dry-erase markers at my studio. There’s a computer at the home studio, a laptop, an ipad, and a phone that goes with me wherever I go.

You would think that I’d remember to eat.

One would think that. I could write myself a note, I could put a reminder in my many calendars, I could put post-it notes in the places I normally go. Do I do these things? Yes. Do I remember to eat? No. When I get locked into a project everything else drops away and I forget to do the most basic thing. Eat. Food.

So, my new resolution is to eat three actual meals a day, every day, for the rest of my life. Also, you might want to buy shares in 3M Post-It Notes.

COMMENTS FROM ASTUTE READERS

"Analogue. This word stopped me short in today's blog. I'd never seen it spelt this way. This sent me to the online Merriam Webster, where I discovered it's the British version of what we usually see on this side of the pond as 'analog'. I also discovered that, on the theme of today's blog, eating, those ersatz meats vegans eat -- the burgers, the weiners -- can be called analogs -- a meaning of this word of which I was not aware. Thanks for enlarging my knowledge base! Your blog is now not only entertaining but also educational!!" — Yvonne
