Lounge Lizard — Sometimes I'm Super Adventure Guy. Sometimes I'm Wait And See Then Do Things Nervously Guy, standing outside a lounge door for two years because nobody told me the rules.

New level unlocked. How have I not done this sooner? What, you ask? WestJet Lounges. Here’s the deal. I fly back and forth from Calgary to Victoria once a month. I have a WestJet Mastercard, earn points for flying and buying, and have made it to the illustrious Gold Membership. Woot. One of the perks is being able to access THE WESTJET AIRPORT LOUNGE.

I’d never visited it before, mostly because I could never find the darn thing, but also mostly because I didn’t know how it worked. Do I need a Golden Ticket? Is there a password? A secret handshake? Sometimes the unknown keeps me from trying things. If you know me, that might sound weird, but there it is: sometimes I’m not Super Adventure Guy. Sometimes I’m Wait And See Then Do Things Nervously Guy.

Proud to say, now that I’m Action Airport Lounge Guy, I act as if I belong, and this whole Super Lounge thing is old hat. One Bailey’s and coffee with a fruit bowl, and I’m King of the Lounge.

All the food and drinks are free. There are private rooms, large tables, smol hideaways, and they all come with power and a QR code to order all the stuff. I didn’t realize how large the lounge was. It’s huge. Every time I turned a corner, there was more lounging to be done. Meeting rooms, private rooms, banquet tables, bar stools, cafe tables, modular pods, and on it went.

Now that I know how it works, I might come to the airport a little earlier than the recommended two hours before my flight and just hang out with my lounge people. Perhaps I’ll buy a leisure suit, oversized sunglasses, and a small dog named “Chai” that goes everywhere with me in my man-purse.
